Week 2 Day 7 of 50
This is our second week of In One Accord: 50 Days to Pentecost Daily Devotional
Introduction: Jesus Appeared – Faith Restored
As we step into this week’s focus in In One Accord: 50 Days to Pentecost, we find ourselves in a powerful and deeply personal moment in the resurrection story. The cross is behind the disciples—but clarity is not yet in front of them. Instead of boldness, we see fear. Instead of confidence, we see uncertainty. The doors are shut. The atmosphere is heavy. Hope feels fragile.
But then—everything changes.
Jesus appears.
Not when they are strong…
Not when they are full of faith…
But right in the middle of their fear, confusion, and doubt.
This week reminds us of a life-changing truth: Jesus doesn’t wait for perfect faith—He reveals Himself to restore it.
“...when the doors were shut… Jesus came and stood in the midst...” (John 20:19)
The disciples had shut the doors out of fear—but closed doors have never been a barrier to the risen Christ. And the same is true for us.
We all have “closed rooms”—places of anxiety, disappointment, unanswered questions, and hidden struggles. But Jesus doesn’t stand outside waiting for you to fix it. He steps right into it.
He comes into the middle of your fear—not to expose you, but to restore you.
“Peace be with you.”
The first words of Jesus were not correction—they were peace.
This peace is not earned. It’s not a reward for having everything together. As we see in Romans 5:1, peace is already established through faith in Christ. It is a gift, not a goal.
Where we often strive, Jesus invites us to receive.
His presence silences chaos.
His voice calms the storm.
His peace anchors the heart.
You are not working toward peace—you are living from it.
“Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” (John 20:27)
From the fearful disciples to doubting Thomas, we see a consistent pattern: an encounter with Jesus changes everything.
Doubt turns into belief.
Fear turns into confidence.
Confusion turns into clarity.
Jesus meets each person exactly where they are—and through that encounter, faith is restored.
Faith is not just built on what we’ve heard—it is strengthened by who we’ve encountered.
Closing Thought:
This week is an invitation.
An invitation to open every closed door…
To stop striving and start receiving…
To move from fear into peace…
And from doubt into restored, living faith.
Because the same Jesus who walked into that room is still walking into lives today.
Jesus Appeared… and when He did, everything changed.
And He is still appearing—so faith can be restored.
Closing Prayer: Jesus Appeared – Faith Restored
Father, we thank You for Your presence that meets us right where we are.
Lord, just as You stepped into that closed room, we ask You now—step into every closed place in our lives. Every place of fear, every place of doubt, every place we’ve tried to hide or manage on our own—come and stand in the midst of it.
Jesus, speak Your peace over us again.
Let Your peace quiet every anxious thought, calm every troubled heart, and settle every uncertainty within us.
We choose today to stop striving and start receiving.
We receive the peace You have already given.
We receive the grace You have already provided.
We receive the finished work of the cross.
Lord, where there has been doubt, restore faith.
Where there has been fear, release boldness.
Where there has been confusion, bring clarity through Your presence.
Just as You met Thomas, meet us in our questions.
Just as You met the disciples, meet us in our weakness.
Reveal Yourself to us in a fresh and personal way, that our faith would not be shaken, but strengthened.
Fill us with Your peace—and send us with purpose.
Let our lives reflect the calm, the confidence, and the assurance that comes from knowing You are alive and present.
We open every door to You.
Have Your way in us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
