Week 2 – Discernment
Scripture: Amos 3:3; Ephesians 4:3
Discernment is not only about individual clarity—it is also about collective alignment. Amos 3:3 asks, “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” Today, we focus on unity as a compass for God’s direction. When a church body seeks to step into a new ministry property, the alignment of hearts, leaders, and congregation is as important as any financial or logistical plan.
Unity confirms God’s will. While God can work through individuals, He often blesses paths where the community is aligned in vision and spirit. Differences of opinion are natural, but when purpose, prayer, and priorities converge, God’s direction becomes clear. Discord or persistent division may indicate that more preparation is needed before moving forward.
Ephesians 4:3 encourages us: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” This verse emphasizes that unity is not passive—it requires intentional effort, humility, and the willingness to submit to God’s higher purpose. Seeking alignment doesn’t mean compromising truth, but it does require listening, praying together, and valuing collective wisdom over individual preference.
During fasting, moments of discomfort or tension can serve as indicators of where unity is needed. If disagreements or frustrations arise, take them to God in prayer rather than letting them fester. Ask Him to harmonize hearts, clarify vision, and foster patience among leaders and congregation members. When God’s Spirit guides unity, decisions become easier to discern and steps toward the ministry property are made with confidence and peace.
Reflection/Application:
Prayer:
Lord, unite our hearts and align our spirits. Help us walk together in agreement, seeking Your guidance above our own desires. Strengthen our bonds, foster peace among us, and guide our collective steps toward the ministry property You have prepared. May unity serve as a confirmation of Your will. Amen.
